故事发生在二十年代的虎头镇，穷小子朱锦春（马国明 饰）爱上了千金大小姐易蓉蓉（周丽淇 饰），身份的悬殊让这段感情注定要经历百般波折。易蓉蓉的父亲易叔恭（李国麟 饰）想将易蓉蓉许配给镇长的儿子董振邦（陆永 饰），为了令朱锦春知难而退，易叔恭要朱锦春送上巨额礼金来迎娶自己的女儿。 
　　为了凑齐这笔前，朱锦春找到了朱祥勋（袁伟豪 饰）、牛玉干（谢东闵 饰）和吴多好（古明华 饰）等亲朋好友，一行人竟然打起了香油钱的主意。最终，他们的伎俩被拆穿，遭到了追捕。为了救朱锦春，易蓉蓉答应嫁给董振邦，哪知道董振邦竟然在两人成婚之夜逃之夭夭。
